VICTORY POINTS

This variant is an alternate way to end a battle and is a good option if time is limited and a war consisting of only 1 battle is desired.

The Battle is won if 7 victory points are accumulated.

Victory points are gained as follows:

• 1 point:  Your troop(s) are the only ones adjacent to a Landmark card (this is per Landmark card).  i.e. if there are 6 Landmark cards in play, up to 6 victory points can be earned in this manner.  

• 1 point:  You have a troop adjacent to an opponent’s Wall.  Note that multiple troops next to an opponent’s wall do not add extra victory points.  (If playing 3-WAY, this victory point can be earned from each opponent’s Wall)

• 2 points:  You have a CROWN card adjacent to an opponent’s Wall.

• 2 points:  You have a troop on an opponent’s Wall.

• 3 points:  You have a CROWN card on an opponent’s Wall (can be combined with a troop card in contact with an enemy wall).

• 5 points:  You have an opponent’s CROWN card in your hostage pile.

Victory points are counted up during RESOLUTION.  (A player must have the requisite number of victory points at the end of a turn.  Reaching, or exceeding, the requisite number of victory points before RESOLUTION, but then losing them, does not count for a victory condition

NOTE 1:  These victory points are not permanent and only count while the above condition is met.  e.g. if you have a victory point because you own a troop card next to your opponent’s wall, but then they capture that troop card, the victory point vanishes

NOTE 2:  If victory points are used, if both players have the requisite number of victory points at the end of RESOLUTION, then the game is NOT a draw.  The next turn begins and will continue doing so until another victory condition is met or one player fails to end RESOLUTION with the proper number of victory points.

Victory points may be used as the only victory condition, or simply one of many victory conditions (already mentioned in “Winning the War”).
